Abstract Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common X-linked muscular disease affecting humans. The Golden Retriever Muscular Dystrophy model (GRMD) is considerthe most suitable for several studies. This assay aims to quantify lymphocyte subpopulations CD4, CD5, and CD8, and standardize, the serum electrophoretic profile, to understand their contribution to the pathologic process in normal Golden Retriever dogs (GR group) and dystrophic´s (GRMD group), through the umbilical cord blood, in dogs aged from 2 to 3 months (GR II and GRMD II), and in dogs over 1 year of age (GR III and GRMD III). Radiation-induced Changes in the Electrophoretic Profile of Serum Albumin BABT

ABSTRACT Albumin protein profiles were investigated in electrophoresis system in relation to the whole body exposition to the radiation. Two groups of rats Wistar were set up as the control (CG) and the irradiated one (IG). The IG was exposed to Co-60 at a dose of 5 Gy. After a 72-hour exposition, 300 μL of blood was collected in the inferior vena cava, renal, jugular, hepatic, and pulmonary veins and the serum separated. The albumin protein was identified by vertical electrophoresis in acrylamide Commassi blue or silver stained. The calibration procedure was applied to albumin samples with well-known concentrations. Ten healthy 2 to 4-week-old Holstein calves were randomly allotted into control and infected groups. Control calves (n=5) were inoculated intrabronchially with 5ml of Dulbecco's phosphate-buffered saline solution (DPBSS). Infected calves (n=5) were inoculated intrabronchially with 5x10(9) log-phase Mannheimia haemolytica organisms suspended in 5ml of DPBSS. Blood samples were obtained 15 minutes before and one, two, four and six hours after inoculation. Serum protein concentrations were determined by means of sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
